Raw Indian On Line Prep Class
with Raw Chef Dan
So last Sunday I hosted my first On-Line Raw Food Prep Class
and it was awesome. The students were not the most enthusiastic group I have had in a long time, I think I may have even mentioned that in the class but the recipes and
the food was outrageous. I think I really out did myself this time. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW! At the end of
my class we all gathered to eat and the students couldn’t believe the meal they
were having. I made this Biryani Curry that was simple to live for. It nearly brought
tears to my eyes. I have been eating it on Bananas, Cherimoya, Pineapple, and Cauliflower.
Just the smell of the curry paste reminds me of one of the best Indian
restaurants I have ever eaten on Lan
Kwia Fong St Hong Kong. You have to try it. I also made a Rice Pudding, Pappadam, Banana dumplings (Pakora) and more. Simply some of the
best food I have ever created. The good news is you can still take this class as a video playback
at Quest.TV.com follow the link below. You will need a good blender and a
dehydrator for some of but this class is something you should not miss! Go take the class, I guarantee
you will not be disappointed.
Summery Herbed Squash Pasta Salad with Sundried Tomatoes and Basil
First using a vegetable peeler, shave "Noodles" from a yellow squash. Lay them on a cutting board and slice skinny noodles lengthwise to create a flat fettuccini like noodle. Place them in a small mixing bowl.
Now add chopped Sundried tomato, chopped fresh Tomato, fresh Basil, Dill, Oregano, Sea Salt and Olive Oil; thats it!
Toss everything together thoroughly coating all the "noodles". Be sure that all the noodle separate and mix evenly throughout the dish . Now place it it the center of your serving plate and top with a spoon of chopped Tomato and dust lightly with fresh cracked Black Pepper
News On The Forefront
Raw Growth In Washington State
This is truly one of the better articles on raw I've ever seen from the media. Very informative and equally argued / supporting both sides.
"
Once viewed as fringe lunatics going back to the days before fire, raw foodists are ever more mainstream. Culver, a former medical assistant, has become a raw foods chef at Dalene's, a new raw restaurant in Kirkland. Her 4-year-old daughter eats raw about 60 percent of the time. They say raw foods have the perfect mix of enzymes for complete digestion, whereas when food is heated the body has to produce extra enzymes to break down such "dead foods." (And our enzyme supply decreases as we age.)
Dr. Mehmet Oz talked up raw food on the "Oprah Winfrey Show," pointing to a BBC show that put nine people on a raw-food diet (11 pounds of fruits and veggies a day) for 12 days. The participants lost an average of 10 pounds, had a 25 percent drop in cholesterol levels, and a 10 percent drop in blood pressure".

OCA's ALERT OF THE WEEK:
(COULD BE) LAST CHANCE TO TAKE ACTION ON FARM BIL
The deadline on the 2007--Now 2008--Farm Bill has been a moving target, but the conference committee is currently set to conclude its work soon. We need as many e-mails as soon as possible to urge Congress to pass a Farm Bill that increases funding for organic, transition to organic, and nutrition programs, rather than simply more subsidies for corporate welfare and biofuels.. Please click here to take action now:
OCA's SUSTAINABILITY TIP & QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
RIP OUT YOUR LAWN...
"But the act I want to talk about is growing some, even just a little, of your own food. Rip out your lawn, if you have one, and if you don't, look into getting a plot in a community garden. Measured against the problem we face, planting a garden sounds pretty benign, I know, but in fact it's one of the most powerful things an individual can do to reduce your carbon footprint, sure, but more important, to reduce your sense of dependence and dividedness: to change the cheap-energy mind."

Fast Food Beverages Might be Worse Than Toilet Water
Twelve-year-old middle school student Jasmine Roberts' project won the science fair at her school.
Her results were not what she expected, and have serious implications for everyone.
Her project compared the ice used in the drinks at five fast food restaurants with the water from toilet bowls in the same establishments. Seventy percent of the time, the ice had more bacteria than the toilet water.
In four of the five restaurants, ice from the self-serve machines had more bacteria than toilet water, as did three out of five cups of ice from drive-through windows.
Sixty percent of the restaurant ice also tested positive for E. coli, which comes from the feces of animals and can cause serious illness.
While a certain amount of bacteria in water is considered harmless, no amount of E. coli is acceptable, however small.
Why Most Vitamin B12 Supplements
Do Nothing For Your Health
n this video, Dr. Jonathan Wright discusses key facts you need to know about vitamin B12.
There are different ways of supplementing B12, such as intramuscular injections, oral supplements, sublinguals, and newer liposomal or transdermal delivery systems, but which one is most effective, and why?
Dr. Wright explains not only the differences between the various delivery forms, but also discusses another vital component that has a major impact on your B12 metabolism -- your stomach acid, and why you shouldn’t take acid blockers for heartburn without getting the proper test done first.
